About Gopalnagar PS

Gopalnagar police station covers an area of169 sq.km. and serves a population of 380,793. Administrativly it is a part of Bongaon CD Block having 9(nine) GPs namely Ganganandapur, Akaipur, Gopalnagar-I, Gopalnagar-II, Bairampur, Palla, Dighari, Chowberia-I and Chowberia-II.\r\n\r\nGopalnagar PS is bounded by Gaighata and Bongaon PSs of the same district and Gangnapur PS, Chakda PS and Haringhata PS of Ranaghat Police District, It is the only Police station having no Indo-Bangladesh border.\r\n\r\nGopalnagar is associated with Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, a famous writer of Bengal. His ancestral house was located at village Barakpur under Gopalnagar-II GP. He had also taught in Gopalnagar Haripada Institution for a short period. Similarly, Another dramatist Dinabandhu Mitra, who is famous for "Neel Darpan" was born at Chowberia village in Gopalnagar P.S.
